Primary (Age 3-7)
Train to Teach Primary (Age 3 – 11)
Primary teachers play a crucial role in shaping children’s early educational experiences, providing them with the foundational knowledge, skills, and personal development that will support them throughout their lives.
As part of our training cohort, you will receive dedicated support throughout your journey to becoming a teacher. From day one, you’ll be fully integrated into the teaching staff at your placement school, gaining hands-on experience. Throughout the academic year, you’ll have the opportunity to make a significant impact, both in the classroom and beyond, while building meaningful relationships with staff, students, and parents. This experience will enhance your professional development and allow you to make a lasting difference in the school community.
Our training program is designed to equip you with expert knowledge, practical classroom experience, and ongoing support to ensure that you are well-prepared and motivated as you embark on your teaching career. Throughout the academic year, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, with additional opportunities to observe practice in different settings.
Our approach ensures that you are well-supported and well-prepared at every stage, setting you up for a rewarding career in education where you can make a meaningful impact. By the end of our programme, you will achieve Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) accredited by Sheffield Hallam University, setting you on a path to a fulfilling and impactful career in education. Embrace the chance to make a difference and inspire the future… your journey starts here!
Course Structure
We collaborate with Teach First to offer their exceptional School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) programme.
The below is an overview of the course structure for our SCITT programme.
Time Commitment
Five days per week (four days in school, one day training off site).
Induction
You’ll begin with a two-week induction before starting your school placement. This is a great chance to meet your peers, dive into key learnings, and prepare for the exciting journey ahead in your core school placement.
Core School Placement
Following your induction, your core school placement will commence. We will arrange this for you at one of our partner schools, providing a supportive environment for you to start putting your training into practice.
Taught Sessions
Throughout the program, you will participate in weekly training through seminars, events, or self-directed study. This will be further enriched by subject-focused conferences during the year, alongside one-week intensive training sessions in both January and April.
Second School Placement
In Half Term 3 (January), you’ll embark on a six-week second school placement, which we will also organise at one of our partner schools.
Additionally, you’ll have the opportunity to gain valuable experience in special schools and alternative provision settings, broadening your understanding of diverse educational environments
